The moment I decided to build Attic was after a frustrating afternoon trying to track down a contract PDF. I knew it was on my Mac. Spotlight couldn't find it. The cloud search tool I'd been using had indexed the folder wrong. I spent twenty minutes looking for something I had made myself, on hardware I owned. That felt deeply wrong.
Attic started as a weekend script and grew into something I use every single day. The difference is simple: the index lives entirely on your machine, nothing phones home, and searches happen locally at speeds no cloud tool can match. It's your Mac doing what it was always capable of — you just needed the right key.
